The tit-for-tat diplomatic expulsions came after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada was investigating “credible allegations” linking India to the June killing of Canadian citizen and prominent Sikh leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India’s foreign ministry on Tuesday responded in kind, saying it had expelled a senior Canadian diplomat based in India. “The concerned diplomat has been asked to leave India within the next five days,” it said in a statement. We have conveyed our concerns at senior levels to India,” a statement shared with CNN said. That operation caused huge anger within the Sikh community and Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards in the aftermath.

Morgenshtern says the rise in outbound tourism from India is the result of investment not just by the government but by private airlines as well. A passenger on an American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi flight is accused of urinating on a fellow passenger while inebriated. An American Airlines passenger urinated on another traveler midflight, according to local media reports. "American Airlines flight 292 with service from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport was met by local law enforcement upon arrival in DEL due to a disruption on board," an American Airlines spokesperson told Insider. At the beginning of March, a 21-year-old student reportedly urinated on another passenger who was asleep on an American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi. In January, Wells Fargo fired an employee who was accused of urinating on a fellow passenger while on Air India's New York to Delhi flight in November.

Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) Denver International Airport (DEN) Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) Dubai International Airport (DXB) Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Istanbul Airport (IST) Heathrow Airport (LHR) Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson international airport topped the list as the world's busiest airport for the second year in a row. An intoxicated passenger on an Air India flight was detained after he urinated on a vacant seat. A similar incident occurred 10 days earlier on another Air India flight. The passenger urinated on a empty seat and the blanket of another passenger, Air India told Insider. A representative for Air India told Insider: "Air India confirms that a passenger on Air India Flight 142 from Paris to Delhi on 6 December 2022 relieved himself on the vacant seat and blanket of a fellow passenger. In deference to the victim's wishes, Air India did not lodge a police report."
